This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Employer Engagement Specialist - Innovation Outpost (IO) who will be all-in on our mission and who will forge relationships with regional and remote employers to create career opportunities and connections for Program Participants of Upskill Amarillo and other IO programs. This role involves guiding program attendees through career exploration, strengthening job search skills, and connecting them to suitable job openings.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Required: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Two (2) years of work experience in recruitment, business development, or community involvement.
  • Preferred: Two (2) years of experience in a role that involves marketing/sales, recruitment, college relations, talent development, or workforce development.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as liaison between Upskill Amarillo IO and area industry partners in establishing community partnerships, relationship building, connecting program participants to employers, and gaining work-based learning opportunities.
  • Meet regularly with local companies to identify and evaluate skills and determine desired jobs in order to meet ongoing needs in the Panhandle.
  • Organize, collaborate and schedule employer engagement recruiting/networking events.
  • Assess employer and program participants feedback to improve processes, engagement, and impact.
  • Organize and guide career readiness opportunities for program participants to include LinkedIn (social media) sessions, resume building and tech interviewing workshops.
  • Define and forecast technology-focused roles and career pathways in the Panhandle.
  • Identify and research supply chain needs within different companies. Relay and develop information received in order to design programs within the Innovation Outpost to meet these needs.
  • Build and maintain Upskill Amarillo program mentors and provide real-world project ideas for Upskill Amarillo program participants.
  • Build and maintain employer job postings in the Upskill Amarillo platform.
  • Advise program participants during all stages of career exploration and decision-making.
  • Create and deliver reports on workforce outcomes.
  • Develop opportunities for individual program participants including paid internship programs, entry-level enrollment, and roles focused on digital technologies.
  • Research economic and employment Labor market trends in order to better understand talent acquisition retention and turnover, career preferences, and participant outcomes.
  • Ensure the accuracy, professionalism, and appropriateness of all publications, programs, and promotional materials.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Effective communicator through both written and verbal methods.
  • Knowledge of marketing assessment development, execution, validation, analysis, and basic statistical reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of career recruiting standards, practices and employment trends.
  • Skilled in sales, customer experience and public relations.
  • Skilled in Project Management.
  • Excellent Human Skills including Adaptability, Critical Thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Growth mindset, and Network Weaving.
  • Highly Skilled in the use of social networking platforms such as LinkedIn, IG, Twitter, and internet job search sites.
  • Ability to work in a detail-oriented environment and handle multiple work priorities.
  • Ability to establish area industry/employer connections and build those key relationships.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong compute capabilities with a desire and ability to learn new software.
  • Ability to advise active members during all stages of career exploration and decision making.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules((link removed), Pay grade 13 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Conditions: Must be willing to travel locally and work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events if necessary.)

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
