Resource Innovations is seeking an Energy Efficiency Engineer to join our growing team in Chicago, IL. As an Energy Efficiency Engineer with Resource Innovations, you will work in a dynamic environment supporting large scale commercial & industrial energy efficiency programs. The Energy Efficiency Engineer must be able to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment and respond quickly to program changes or challenges. We are looking for a mission driven, and career minded individual with previous mechanical, and/or industrial engineering experience who enjoys working in an innovative environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Supports energy efficiency program activities related to measure design and savings calculations for existing programs and development of new programs.
• Identifying and quantifying energy efficiency measures
• Support measurement and verification tasks including the installations of field monitoring equipment to establish energy usage patterns
• Assists contractors and customers to select appropriate energy efficiency equipment that would qualify for equipment rebates from the utility
• Maintains the highest level of quality control for deliverables, demonstrating technical excellence, objectivity, and clarity while maintaining and advancing projects
• Mentors and trains junior engineers on various energy efficiency fundamentals and technologies
• Establishes and maintains a professional client rapport, including identifying and anticipating client needs and proposing solutions.
• Conducts site visits to verify installation and operation of replacement energy efficient equipment
• Solicits feedback, advocates change, and implement solutions
• Other duties, as assigned

Requirements

• 0-3 years of experience within the energy efficiency or building efficiency industry
• Must be located in the greater Chicago area.
• Bachelors or Master's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering preferred Industrial systems such as compressed air, refrigeration, process cooling
• Must have a valid U.S. drivers license to visit customer sites
• Familiarity with relevant energy efficiency codes and standards (e.g. ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, Code of Federal Regulations etc.)
• Experience calculating energy savings for commercial HVAC and/or industrial process energy efficiency improvements
• A strong understanding of electric energy using systems of commercial and industrial facilities including equipment controls and optimization and/or sustainability practices

Preferred:

• P.E., C.E.M., and/or LEED AP BD+C certification (or on track to receive) is highly desirable
• Experience in the following areas is a plus:
  • Design and specification of HVAC or building automation/controls
  • Building and energy modeling/simulation tools (e.g. eQUEST, EnergyPro)
  • Industrial systems such as compressed air, refrigeration, process cooling
