The incumbent may be domiciled in Orleans or Lafourche parish.

This engineering position involves field inspection of facilities, public works, and treatment processes to ensure compliance with State and Federal laws, rules, and regulations. Work involves the application of administrative, supervisory and engineering skills, knowledge, and abilities. The incumbent of this position is one of the principle assistants to the Chief Engineer managing engineering and extensive sampling activities within a multi-parish (multi-region) District of the State. This position requires professional engineering experience and appropriate educational qualifications relative to the fields of public water supply and wastewater treatment. This position requires possession of a current Louisiana Professional Engineering license.

Work is performed in accordance with principles concepts and techniques of higher physical and engineering sciences and business practices. Supervision is exercised over engineers, sanitarians, and professional staff that perform complex duties in regards to drinking water and community sewage. Supervision is received from the Deputy Chief Engineer of Field Operations.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering and one of the following:

1. Three years of licensed engineering experience.

2. Seven years of professional engineering experience.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience.

A Ph.D. in engineering will substitute for two years of the required experience.

Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of required experience.

NOTE:

Engineering experience gained while licensed as a professional engineer will be accepted as licensed engineering experience.

Engineering experience gained after earning an ABET-accredited degree and prior to earning a professional engineers license (e.g., as an engineer intern applicant, engineer intern, or equivalent) will be accepted as professional level engineering experience.

NOTE:

Applications will be accepted from persons licensed to practice professional engineering in states other than Louisiana. If one of those applicants is selected for the position, he/she will be required to obtain a Louisiana license prior to appointment. The hiring agency will verify that all licensing requirements are met.

Louisiana Professional Engineer licenses are issued by the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board. Licensing requirements may be viewed at (link removed)
