Terrazzo & Marble Supply is looking for an experienced formulator of epoxy and urethane coatings. This person will spend substantial time in hands-on epoxy and/or urethane formulation and testing. This individual will be responsible for providing timely and accurate solutions to multiple complex problems using considerable technical expertise and experience to solve/prevent problems that may arise.
The ideal person must have epoxy and/or urethane coatings experience additionally water-based chemistry would be a plus. This individual should have field experience with an understanding of installation processes and ability to troubleshoot in the field.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Batch mixing of epoxies and urethane coatings
Develop new products and /or modify and improve existing products. Changes existing formulations to improve product costs
Evaluate new raw materials and attend technical presentations from material suppliers
Responsible for batch production from pilot scale up to process validation
Quality control of products manufactured.
Color matching experience is a plus
Record keeping and documentation
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related major. An advanced degree is a plus.
MUST HAVE:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or any other related field.
Over 5 years of experience in the Chemical industry.
Strong formulation and testing experience - Urethane and Epoxy.
U.S. Citizenship.
NICE TO HAVE:
Master's degree in Chemistry or any other related field.
Water-based Chemistry, Painting, or Coating industry experience.
ADDITIONAL ORDER DETAILS:
The ideal candidate for this role would have strong water-based Chemical industry background and could come from any of the major Painting and Coatings supplying companies like Sherwin Williams, AkzoNobel, Valspar Paint, Hentzen Coatings, PPG Industries, Yenkin-Majestic Paint Co., Behr Process Corp, and others. Someone who would have a good handle over batch production, color testing, as well as matching and technical chemistry knowledge, would be a perfect fit for the role.
