Cuberg has an exciting job offer for an Equipment Engineer to join our bold Equipment Design & Manufacturing team in San Leandro. In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale American battery factories. Cuberg will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.

The Equipment Engineer will need to be the main technical contact point for next generation of processing equipment from conceptual phase all the way through to commissioning (link removed) This position is instrumental to scale up Cubergs operations in America.

Reporting to Equipment Engineering Manager you will be part of a dynamic, cross-functional team which will operate within the fields of Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Connectivity & Sensing, working intimately with the R&D department for cell design and our production team.

The ultimate goal of this very important team is to create the best equipment strategy to enable the production of the world's best performance battery.

About

Cuberg is commercializing next-generation battery technology to power the future of electric mobility. The company was acquired in 2021 by Northvolt, a global supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems. As Northvolt's Advanced Technology Center operating in Silicon Valley, Cuberg is developing and commercializing lithium metal batteries, building an innovation ecosystem around lithium-ion technology, and leveraging Northvolt's state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities to rapidly scale up production of advanced batteries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed specifications and validation activities for specific equipment
  • Ensure equipment meets all relevant internal specifications
  • Lead and participate in technical design reviews
  • Set the critical equipment characteristics to achieve the best safety, performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency
  • Supplier Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain document structure within PLM systems

Requirements


  • BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field such as Mechatronics / Design / Industrialization etc.
  • Experience within Assembly Machines, Laser Welding, Metrology, Controls and Automation is preferable
  • Working experience in equipment design and/or Project Management
  • Experience from manufacturing industry, cell manufacturing is a plus
    • Experience in 2D & 3D Modeling
    • Strong understanding of the supporting processes and associated technologies
    • Excellent English written and oral skills
