DCS Midwest LLC, formed in 1982, is a fast growing, medium sized, commercial, general contractor with in-house design / build capabilities focusing on construction projects within the Chicago metropolitan market, in both urban and suburban locations. Our primary work consists of negotiated projects in the retail, restaurant and medical sectors working with national brand companies. Projects include but are not limited to out parcel, ground up build-to-suits, large parcel assemblage site, multi-story medical and office buildings and site infrastructure developments.



 



Current Assignments:



 



· 5 story redevelopment, new building addition, including interior construction of office and health club



· 8.8 acre site development and multi-building project, including 35,000 sf grocery store and 3 individual retail / restaurant buildings



· 9.5 acre site development and multi-building project, including 3 – 5 individual retail / restaurant buildings



· 8.5 acre site development and multi-building project, including 3 – 5 individual retail / restaurant buildings



· 7.5 acre site development and multi-building project, including 3 – 5 individual retail / restaurant buildings



· Convenience Store / Gas, multiple locations, 3,000 – 4,000 sf convenience store with fueling, sites approximately 1 acre



· Restaurant / Retail Out Lots, multiple locations, 2,500 – 10,000 sf restaurant / retail single or mixed use buildings, sites approximately 1 acre



· Medical Clinics, multiple locations, 3,000 – 7,000 sf building, sites approximately 1 acre



 



General Description:



Position is a full-time, long term, career opportunity to join a successful construction company working as an important team member in the corporate office and field that allows the company to effectively execute and deliver of construction projects within budget, on time and of high quality.



 



Position:



The Estimator shall work with the Director of Construction and other office and field personnel in the estimating and procurement of construction projects. The Estimator will be working in an environment that includes estimating all phases including conceptual, preliminary and final bidding and procurement of subtrades.



 



Duties & Responsibilities:



 



· Manages and tracks multiple projects at once maintaining an estimating schedule to ensure the orderly and timely preparation of estimates and proposals



· Prepares estimates with the proper level of detail for Conceptual, Design Development and Construction Documents stages



· Manages the preparation of estimates and submission of proposals to clients



· Manages the subcontractor database to ensure there are sufficient subcontractors to bid projects in all trades, and once selected the subcontractors have the proper experience, personnel, work load and financial abilities to perform on the project in a proper and timely manner



· Manages the bidding process and prepares proper bid packages with the information required in each package to assure accurate and complete bids are received from the subtrades



· Receives and analyzes bid proposals received from the subtrades and prepares comparatives on such for review and subcontractor procurement



· Administers buy-out process with Director of Construction to hand off project to construction team



· Works with assigned construction project managers during construction to prepare any estimates and or assist with obtaining proposals from subtrades for changes or additions to the work



· Maintains estimating costs database



· Provides up to date market changes that impacts costs and researches alternative and new systems that are applicable to projects allowing for cost and efficiency optimization



· Proficiency with the estimating software, internet based programs and MS Office MS Excel, MS Word



 



Qualifications / Requirements:



· B.S. degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent field experience.



· Minimum four (4) years of commercial, estimating experience.



· History, local knowledge of successfully working with subcontractors in the Chicago metropolitan market
