About the Role

Latinos for Education is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Executive Director to lead our Massachusetts regional team. The Executive Director will refine the vision and strategy for Latinos for Educations continued growth in the Massachusetts region and lead local program implementation, policy and advocacy efforts, fundraising, communications, and regional operations. This is a unique and exciting role for a local leader with an entrepreneurial spirit who is motivated by the opportunity to strengthen Latinos for Educations impact across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.


Responsibilities

Regional Vision, Leadership and Operations:

  • Execute a regional strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and goals
  • Lead a high-performing team, including hiring and onboarding new staff, developing and managing team performance, and promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation
  • Develop and manage against a comprehensive regional budget to ensure financial sustainability in the region
  • Contribute input and feedback into the organizational strategy for Latinos for Education
  • Live out Latinos for Educations core values and actively contribute to a positive team culture in the region and across the organization
  • Ensure regional data and metrics are effectively tracked and managed in the relevant technology platforms
  • Partner with the Executive Director, Texas and Executive Director, Bay Area as a learning community to exchange ideas and gather feedback to advance the work in all our regions

Regional External Affairs and Fundraising:

With support from the national External Affairs team, the Executive Director will:

  • Serve as the primary fundraiser for the region by managing and growing the MA portfolio to generate $1.5M/year in the next three years
  • Develop partnerships with local organizations that advance our programs and advocacy efforts and support our broader network of Latino leaders in the region
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the region in print, video, and digital media (in English and Spanish)
  • Represent the organization in external forums, including conferences, meetings, and public speaking engagements
  • Cultivate relationships with key leaders and influencers in the region including school district leaders to create long term partnerships

Regional Program Implementation:

With support from the national Programs team, the Executive Director will:

  • Oversee regional program implementation, ensuring a high-quality experience for fellows and alumni in the region
  • Oversee regional recruitment for Latinos for Educations fellowships
  • Oversee district and nonprofit programmatic partnerships to support the outcomes of the programs
  • Monitor and evaluate regional program outcomes to ensure goals are met or exceeded
  • Ensure cultivation of the Latino network and grow regional membership of EdCentro (our online platform for Latino education leaders)
  • Ensure implementation of a local alumni engagement strategy
  • Partnering closely with national programmatic team on the full program cycle

Statewide Policy and Advocacy Leadership:

With support from the national Policy & Advocacy team and partner consultants, the Executive Director will:

  • Represent the organization in external policy and advocacy forums, including conferences, meetings, and public speaking engagements
  • Oversee the continued refinement and advancement of Latinos for Educations policy and advocacy agenda for Massachusetts
  • Play a key role in coalitions and partnerships

The Team:

The Massachusetts region consists of 1-2 program team members, 1-2 policy and advocacy team members, and consultants. Additionally, the national team provides ongoing support and guidance in key areas such as fundraising; marketing and communications; program design, content, and evaluation; and finance, operations and human resources.

Requirements

This is an extraordinary opportunity for a self-motivated individual to build Latinos for Educations newest region and for someone passionate about educational equity for Latinos. The successful candidate will be highly organized, have excellent interpersonal skills, a strong local network, and operate with a sense of urgency. Specific requirements include:

Required:

  • Based in Boston, MA or surrounding region
  • Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish (professional level of proficiency for Spanish language media opportunities)
  • 14+ years of general professional experience
  • 9+ years of experience leading outcome-driven teams
  • Excellent relationship building skills and ability to influence others to action in support of a mission
  • Experience working in the education sector
  • Understanding of local context and Latino education landscape in Massachusetts
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred:

  • 3+ years of development experience, specifically closing five-and six-figure gifts
  • Masters degree in related field

Compensation Philosophy

Latinos for Education offers competitive industry rate salary bands to retain and grow talented individuals. We conduct a robust internal and external benchmarking process to ensure that our salaries are competitive.

The salary range for this role is commensurate with experience and is as follows:

  • Compensation Band: $150,000 - $185,000
  • Mid-Point: $167,500

The compensation band midpoint represents the market rate for a position, and a candidate that fully meets the qualifications and experience required for the role will generally be paid at this level. An offer made to a candidate that is above the midpoint would represent someone who is extraordinarily qualified.
