Position Title: Executive Director

Location: Springfield, VT

About BRIC:

BRIC is a non-profit designed to empower, inspire, and support rural Vermont through technology and entrepreneurship. BRIC provides business incubation for early-stage tech start-ups, local co-working space, and collaborates with teachers and students in the region to empower technology exploration.

Position Overview:

This position will lead efforts to empower, inspire, and support the creation and growth of a tech ecosystem in Springfield, Vermont (with a new expansion location in Randolph VT) through development of tech companies and talent development.

BRIC has undergone a series of strategic development processes over the past six months and received a Build2Scale grant from the EDA that will support the organization for the next three years. Your role will be to provide the energy and leadership needed to bring those strategic plans to life, enabling the organization to become a thriving catalyst of entrepreneurial innovation, community connectedness, and rural vibrancy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Manage and lead BRICs next steps to complete the strategic plan and strategic budget.
  • Manage BRICs execution of grant deliverables for the three-year EDA Build2Scale grant awarded.
  • Overseeing staff to ensure efficiency and success of day-to-day operations.
  • Providing direction and support for BRICs Randolph VT campus.

Development

  • Partner with the Head of Development to build a sustainable philanthropic support structure for BRIC and its programming.
  • Represent BRIC to philanthropic partners and seek funding to support and expand BRICs operational capacity to achieve its strategic goals.
  • Network with BRICs regional and national partners to identify new grant opportunities, partner connections, and ensure the success of the current grants and programs.

Entrepreneurship

  • Implement and oversee BRICs Actuator Program (our Incubator/Accelerator). This program is designed and requires a strong leader to be a key touchstone, champion, and manager in order to thrive.
  • Create and oversee a slate of events designed to increase BRICs key outcomes for building an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the region.
  • Develop programs geared towards adult learners for tech talent development. This includes outreach to unemployed and underemployed area residents and establishing partnerships with area tech employers as well as standing up a software project shop that can provide contractual opportunities.
  • Engage in regional and state-wide workforce training and development partnerships and opportunities.
  • Partner with the local school district and other partners to develop programming for students in the region to explore and embrace technology entrepreneurship and job opportunities.
  • Manage the continued development of BRICs coworking space in Springfield, Vermont.

Community

Board Support:

  • Communicate clearly and consistently with Board members to ensure that the Board is able to make informed decisions and support BRIC however possible.
  • Maintain active involvement with Board committees by attending meetings and providing suggestions, recommendations, information and reports as needed.
  • Perform other tasks at the direction of the Board of Directors.

Qualifications and Skills Desired:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Services Administration or related field, MBA, or masters degree in Human Services, Public and/or Nonprofit administration preferred.
  • At least ten years of administration of Nonprofit administration, including supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a long-range strategic vision.
  • Proven ability to achieve financial, operational, and development targets.
  • Proven ability to communicate, engage, and rally teams around a shared vision from front line to community to Board.
  • Demonstrated experience in augmenting workforce capacity and development by fostering an effective, stimulating, and compassionate workplace environment.
