This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Full-Time Executive Director of Health Care Simulation and Outreach who will be all-in on our mission. This position is a high-level and visible role that will strategically lead the commissioning and delivery of Continuing Healthcare education in partnership with our local and area health care providers. In addition, this position will oversee the Healthcare Simulation Center for Amarillo College. This position will develop and implement policies and procedures, administer the budget, organize tasks, set priorities and secure outside funding sources as needed.

EDUCATION

  • Required: Bachelors Degree in health, education or business
  • Preferred: Masters Degree in education.

EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Three years personnel and budget management experience. Additional education beyond Bachelor's may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Preferred: Three years experience managing a simulation lab; experience developing and delivering continuing education for healthcare professionals.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and practice standards consistent with the Simulation center's mission and educational objectives.
  • Develop simulation user/community education awareness and center planning and implementation.
  • Assist with preparing and maintaining patient simulators, part-task trainers, and clinical simulation Center audio-visual equipment.
  • Provide oversight in the design, development and implementation of all training programs to simulation users in operation of patient simulators, part-task trainers, and simulation audio-visual equipment.
  • Coordinate purchase of supplies needed to operate the Clinical Simulation Center.
  • Identify and submit extramural grant/partnership funding opportunities for simulation education and patient safety research.
  • Prepare an annual budget and operate as budget officer for simulation center.
  • Promote the interest of the Simulation Center through participation in public relations events, development of new markets for simulation use, community outreaches, and serving on professional/civic service organizations and committee meetings as the Simulation Center representative.
  • Collaborate with faculty and regional users to develop ideas for innovative research and to advance the use of simulation in healthcare education.
  • Prepare various documents including: Annual Report, Goals and Objectives, and Strategic Plans.
  • Oversee federal and state reports pertinent to Continuing Education.
  • Write grants and administer funds for Continuing Healthcare Education.
  • Supervise all reporting requirements in regards to all continuing contracts and/or grants.

  • Skills in computer operation such as Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.

Salary: Amarillo College - Salary Schedules((link removed), Pay grade 15 (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Working Conditions: Flexibility for extended workday, nights and weekends is required.

Work Environment: This position operates in a professional office environment, routinely uses standard office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, copy and fax machines, filing cabinets) and is in a high traffic area with continual interruptions. Software commonly used includes Microsoft Office, Colleague, and various other educational applications. Work may also be performed outside of the office and with little to no supervision.
