Michigan Spring and Stamping is seeking an experienced Punch Press Operator to set up and operate progressive punch press machines. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of five years of factory-related experience in a press environment with progressive dies, as well as a minimum of three years of experience completing set-ups on progressive presses.

The Punch Press Operator will be responsible for assembling, installing, and aligning dies in press according to specifications, troubleshooting and adjusting presses and dies, performing checks on jobs for all dimensions, running and adjusting machinery in a safe manner, and performing routine, preventative maintenance on presses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Make decisions on which jobs the machines are capable of handling; set up difficult jobs from a blueprint or hand drawing.
  • Assemble, install, and align dies in press according to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust presses and dies.
  • Perform checks on jobs for all dimensions and runs it according to the blueprint.
  • Run and adjust machinery in a safe manner.
  • Perform routine, preventative maintenance on presses.
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain quality and speed of standard rates, including certification in basic SPC techniques.
  • Properly complete all required quality process controls.
  • Inspect parts for conformance to specifications.
  • Responsible for problem-solving, correcting and or stopping production when defective parts are detected.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to Manufacturing Supervisor/Manager.
  • Demonstrate the willingness to train others and generally be of assistance to others as needed.


  • Requirements

    Minimum five years of factory-related experience in a press environment with progressive dies.
    Minimum 3 years of experience completing set-ups on progressive presses.
    Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints.
    Familiar with measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and comparators.
    Ability to prioritize multiple work assignments.
    High School diploma or GED required.
