Etz Chaim Preschool Extended Care Associate

Congregation Etz Chaim, a Conservative synagogue, is looking for morning and aftercare staff for the 2019-2020 school year for our warm nurturing and dynamic Early Childhood program. The hours range from, morning care, 7am – 9:30am and aftercare anywhere from 12pm – 5pm, (we are open to a combination of days and times). Our program caters to children 14 months – 5 years. The candidate should be able to do the following:

• Greet each child and parent in a warm and friendly manner.


• Interact with the children and encourages their involvement in activities.


• Provide a warm, safe, and caring environment that is kept orderly, clean, and appealing. The environment should allow the child to grow and to explore.


• Be responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of the children.


• Work with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.


• Ensure confidentiality of privileged information.


• Maintain adherence to all school policies and procedures, including safety requirements.


• Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.


• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the school administration, including their direct supervisor.


• Must be able to lift children onto changing tables and willing to learn proper diaper changing in accordance with Bright from the Start.


• Be able or have the ability to communicate with parents in an effective manner.


• Be able to or have the ability to think outside the box.


• Is firm but friendly.


• Have the ability to follow a daily schedule.


• A desire to learn more about play based environments in the education field.


• Have or exhibit patience and understanding, as children develop at different rates and have an understanding that all children’s needs are different.
