Job Description

Our company has been in business for 40+ years! We are seeking a skilled fabricator/machinist with a highly-trained eye for quality to join our metalworking department. In this position, you’ll be exposed to some of the most high-tech welding, fabricating, and machining tools in use in the industry. You will learn new and more advanced methods for fabrication, and machining, and you’ll be able to help support our company’s vision of delivering products of the highest quality to our customers. Job Responsibilities



· Check measurements and dimensions of each piece that’s being worked on with rulers, measuring tapes or squares



· Place each product component in its appropriate spot as noted in the blueprints for proper alignment by using a hammer, pry bar, jack, wedge or another tool



· Mark spots to cut and use tools to manipulate steel, plastic or other materials by cutting, hammering, bending or grinding the workpiece



· Employ furnaces or hand torches to heat up materials to make them more flexible for bending or manipulation into the correct specification



· Review blueprints, drawings, and other specification papers before starting work on a fabrication process and during the steps to ensure accurate completion



· Maneuver fabrication machines, such as grinders, drill presses, brakes, rolls, shears and flame cutters to cut, bend, grind and adjust materials



· Make templates for common work tasks when conducting repetitive motions for the fabrication process to ensure a set standard of work quality



· Works closely with designers and engineers to understand the application of requested parts and to make value added recommendations



· Works closely with other welders, fabricators, and machinists to integrate and synthesize their collective efforts



Job Skills & Qualifications



Required:



· High school diploma or a GED equivalent



· At least five years of experience in fabrication or machining



· Ability to comprehend blueprints and work specifications



· Physical ability to lift at least 75 pounds or more



· Effective communication and teamwork skills are a must



· Valid Driver’s License



Preferred:



· Welding certificate completion



· Understanding of construction tasks and industrial processes



· Excellent color vision and hand dexterity



· Associate degree in a mechanical field



· Active DOE “L” or “Q” Clearance
