With our family of programs in various locations on Long Island, Queens, Seattle and Puerto Rico, Gersh is the leading provider of educational and support services for children on the autism spectrum and their families. The primary function of this role is to oversee physical maintenance and operations of buildings, facilities and building systems. - Visit all locations on a regular basis to ensure locations are well maintained and staff is performing their duties
- Supervise maintenance and housekeeping departments
- Assist with planning and execution of building renovations and maintenance from purchasing supplies to execution and project management
- Implement policies and safety procedures applicable to facilities and our buildings
- Manage all facilities related vendor and contractor contracts, supplies and suppliers and service agreements
- Recognize, assess, and minimize hazards and risks
- Prepare and monitor facilities expenditure reports
- Ensure compliance with all local and state facilities related regulations. Including but no limited to zoning, permitting, inspections and certification, coordinate annual inspections, permits, certifications and maintain record keeping system
- Oversee vehicle procurement, use, maintenance, registration, inspection and insurance related to fleet
- Work with insurance company to submit new employees driver check forms and keep log up to date
- Troubleshoot all facilities related issues
- Coordinate closures and inclement weather procedures and staffing needs
- Help support the needs of owners private properties and vehicles
- Coordinate the logistics of all moves and shipments related to organization and owner
- Keep inventory of all facilities equipment, coordinate regular maintenance and procure new equipment when necessary
- Support VP of Facilities and Real Estate on scouting new properties, annual budget development, new school rollouts, space evaluation, department development,
Requirements Qualifications
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to lift heavy objects
- Exceptional technical knowledge and troubleshooting ability
- Knowledge of all phases of construction
- Contract negotiation
- Technical Certifications
- Estimating, budgeting, and analysis skills
- In depth knowledge of tool, machinery and vehicle operation
- Clean Drivers license
- Ability to travel to all locations
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite
Working conditions This position is rain or shine, Monday- Friday, occasional weekends evening and early shifts when applicable. The Director of Facilities is on call 24/7 365 days a year. Physical requirements Job requires the ability to work in all weather conditions, ability to travel to multiple locations, Often requires lifting of heavy objects.
