Facility Manager

Work Location: 601 First Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504

Position Classification: Full Time Exempt

About This Opportunity

Rockford is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Facility Manager to oversee assigned residential and commercial capital expenditure projects. You will work side-by-side with the Director of Facilities to maximize the life span of the building while providing excellent customer service to our clients. You will be expected to manage multiple functions of building operations and maintenance of facilities within a campus and/or region. You will be expected to develop and recommend strategic facility management objectives for clients. This position optimizes strong interpersonal and organizational skills while working within a collaborative and fun team. This position reports directly to the Director of Facilities.


Key Deliverables of Role:

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients.
  • Will organize and oversee operational and capital projects processes and ensure projects are completed promptly and efficiently.
  • Work with Architect and Engineer firms to establish plans and specifications.
  • Work with the project team to establish the project budget.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs throughout the building.
  • Coordinate building maintenance systems with contractors and supervisors.
  • Maintains work order system: creating, assigning, updating, and closing work orders related to the property.
  • May be required to have oversight of clients vendors and contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or facility related certification.
  • 5-10 years of facility management experience.
  • Must possess the ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiar with building automation, facilities work management, and space management systems/tools.
  • Maintain a positive, productive relationship with real estate and property owners.
  • 60% travel in Michigan and the surrounding states from time to time. Reliable transportation.
  • Coordinate, assist/support, and collaborate with appropriate parties to progress projects.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office experience - Proficiencies in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

The work environment for this position is a typical office environment with occasional construction site visits. When in the office, the physical demands require the ability to sit for long periods of time. Intermittent movement, such as accessing centrally located office equipment, lifting of 35 lbs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing, may be necessary to perform the requirements of this position. Site visits may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction.
