Our client, a highly regarded law firm is seeking an experienced Family Legal Secretary to become a part of the team. You will provide overall support at a high level to attorneys in family law matters. The successful candidate will be familiar with Illinois court procedures and proficient with preparing attorneys for trial or hearings.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the drafting and reviewing of legal documents related to all family law matters.
- Scan, record and store client information (paperless office).
- Prepare Excel spreadsheets summarizing financial case data.
- Prepare files for Court for attorneys.
- Keep attorneys on schedule with file deadlines, calendar, court dates, and mediation.
- Trial, Hearings and Mediation preparation in all respects, from file inception to conclusion.
- Drafting and finalizing disclosure statements
- Drafting and completing all discovery
- Answering phones and assisting clients
- Filing court documents when needed
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Legal Secretary in a family law litigation role.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Deadline and detail-oriented.
Ability to take a file and run with it as highly skilled Family Law Litigation Legal Assistant.
Impeccable work ethic.
Familiarity with the Family Law Courts systems and procedures, including Cook, Kane, Lake, DuPage and Will County.
Skills:
MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Advanced typing, proofing, writing, and communicating
Excellent follow-up and follow-through
