Increased broadband LAN/WAN and Wireless technology solutions will better support robust digital teaching content, online teaching resources and online testing. The need for reliable network connection requires continual investment in next generation education technology platforms and is the focus of enhancing school technology infrastructure. The Division of Instructional & Information Technology (DIIT) is responsible for managing the Classroom Connectivity Universal (CCU) Refresh project to upgrade all network infrastructure within schools, and other related projects. The goal of this project is to upgrade antiquated technology infrastructure including the core network equipment and wireless access infrastructure, so it minimally delivers 300 Mbps per 1,000 students in all 1,318 school buildings. The Field Project Manager will perform Project Management duties to ensure CCU refresh at each site is completed in a timely manner. Manages day-to-day duties for DOE site refreshes including but not limited to: site survey, bill of materials, design plans, implementation, close out, invoices, and compile project documentation. High-Level Project Goals Conduct site surveys at DOE sites to determine refresh plan for the new core network and enhanced wireless coverage Upgrade Network Infrastructure and Wireless Networks to meet current DOE Standards at all DOE Buildings Provide wall-to-wall connectivity to support continuous learning opportunities within a DOE location IMPORTANT INFORMATION Awarded Candidate will be required to travel to refresh sites that are assigned to within the 5 boroughs of NYC daily. Travel costs will be covered by the awarded candidate and/or vendor. DOE will not reimburse travel costs and expenses. To ensure disruptions are kept at a minimum at refresh sites, integration work may be conducted outside of normal business hours. Awarded Candidate will be required to maintain a flexible work schedule to accommodate this need. When feasible, duties will be performed during administrative business hours between 7 am to 5 pm. Awarded candidate must have fully functioning laptop and cellular phone. DOE will not provide either of these devices. POSITION FIELD PROJECT MANAGER JOB DETAILS OUTLINE OF RESPONSIBILITIES Manages day-to-day activities required to support CCU Project Partners with Client integrator to conduct refresh site surveys to gather requirements for integration, cabling work and network: electrical, hardware for LAN/ WAN/ Wireless to be integrated Manage DOE vendors in the field, ensuring all goals are met Coordinates, directs, and oversees integration work at each refresh site Coordinates external on-site meetings with schools and vendors as it relates the site's refresh Complies documentation for site refresh records including but not limited to site surveys, BOM (bill of material) requirement validation Documents risks, issues, and updates status and resolutions for DOE program manager Serves as representative and point of contact to the DOE Senior Program Manager of overall CCU Project R1634 Classroom Connectivity Universal Refresh (CCU) 2 Keeps and maintains DIIT's central repository for CCU related project documents Updates project related documents, as needed, and provides complete documentation in order to ensure DOE fiscal responsibilities are adhered to, and all Capital responsibilities are met MANDATORY MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate must have minimally achieved the following level of experience: Minimum of 6 years of Project Management experience in the Data network industry Minimum of 6 years of onsite Field Project Management of Network Infrastructure Installation and Deployment projects Minimum of 5 years of Customer Service and Client facing experience, interacting with end users and vendors in the field Minimum of 6 years of experience with documenting project deliverables Minimum of 5 years of experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Visio, Excel, Projects) PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree or a Master's degree in computer science/ telecommunications from an accredited college Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to communicate in a credible and confident manner at all levels in the organization especially on technical issues to a non-technical audience.
