Job Summary: This position is responsible for ensuring in-house crews and subcontractors are in compliance with internal, customer, and OSHA safety standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct daily walk through inspections and audits of job sites
Inspect crews and subcontractors to ensure safe work practices and compliance
Conduct regular vehicle safety inspections and audits
Recognize imminent danger and act accordingly to correct it, including shutting down job sites based on safety concerns
Conduct mandatory weekly safety meetings with field employees and managers
Assist with accident and injury investigations and root cause analysis
Conduct training classes in multiple disciplines
Create and maintain administrative records
Assist Safety, Human Resources, and local management to identify training needs, tools, and resources
Promote safety-oriented behavior at all field locations and job sites
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
Education: Highschool diploma, general education degree (G.E.D.), or related trade school education
Experience:
One-year telecommunications industry experience
One-year safety related experience
Maintain instructor certifications in various disciplines
Technical Skills:
Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
Ability to use a wireless tablet
Soft Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams
Ability to think analytically, apply sound judgment, and solve problems
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs.
Ability to reach, climb, and/or grasp ladders or other tall structures
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
Ability to work long and unpredictable hours
Ability to work in various settings with moderate to loud noise levels
Ability to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces
Ability to travel away from home up to 100% of the time, including weekends and extended travel. Travel includes local site travel or national travel depending on business needs.
