Field Service Representative - Orange

Orange, CA 92602

Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder

The client is the largest and most dependable manufacturer of Heavy-Duty Transit Buses in North America. Our customers are in all 50 states, and include cities, counties, transit districts, universities and major private fleet operators. We are headquartered in Livermore, CA.

*Individual hired must be located in Orange County or surrounding areas*

Day to Day

  • Travel to customers location in the Greater Los Angeles region, not limited to travel throughout the United States.
  • Partner with our customer to inspect new buses after delivery, and repair or make adjustments to address any and all issues as necessary.
  • Work with customers to understand concerns about buses in-service of any age and facilitate investigation into root cause and development resolution plan
  • Diagnose electrical and/or mechanical defects on buses and repair as needed
  • Troubleshoot supplier issues and facilitate resolution
  • Perform and Document failure analysis using field reports, photos and failed material analysis
  • Act as liaison between customer and factory or resolution of difficult product issues
  • Order ship short parts or broken/failed parts as needed to put bus in service
  • Assist customers in ordering warranty or replacement parts as needed
  • Recommend or authorize warranty repairs or policy adjustments as needed
  • Provide driver and mechanic orientations for GILLIG buses
  • Communicate plans with customer to resolve issues with repair process or field campaigns as required
  • Assist or perform accident/fire investigations, and assist in or provide photos for investigation, as needed

About You

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the Commercial Bus Industry
  • Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics,
  • Ability to mentor and train.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Proven ability to use computer programs to diagnose bus systems preferred.
  • Commercial Drivers license with passenger endorsements.
  • Lock Out Tag Out certification

About the Environment

  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Working environment in customers maintenance shops and/or outdoors
  • Regularly sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, work at heights, work in confined spaces, & have the ability to climb ladders
  • May be required to work overtime based on business needs.
  • Excessive travel required; approximately 70-80%
  • Service truck, laptop & cell phone provided.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Companies ATS Questions):

1. Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business Administration or equivalent is preferred.

2. Minimum 3 years of experience in the Commercial Bus Industry

3. Troubleshooting aspect is imperative / need to have knowledge on EV buses required.

4. Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics and ability to mentor and train.

5.Test will be on schematics, need to know how to read schematics

6. Commercial Drivers license with passenger endorsements.

7. Lock Out Tag Out certification

8. Exp. with front facing with clients

9. Proven ability to use computer programs to diagnose bus systems preferred.

10. Must be a US Citizen or Green Card holder.
