A key member of the Finance team, this position will be responsible for all day-to-day finance activities related to Global Inventory & Product Costing including managing product costings, cost of goods sold reporting and analysis, period end closings, maintaining and reconciling balance sheet ledger accounts. This position will also assist the finance manager in creating the budget and updating forecasts for our cost of goods sold.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the completion of all month-end close activities related to inventory including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting.
  • Prepare monthly COGS and inventory reporting, including budget vs. actuals and standard cost variances.
  • Provide oversight for both the warehouse cycle count process and the annual field inventory audits to ensure internal controls are functioning as designed and provide reporting to management.
  • Calculate all inventory reserves, including preparing the necessary supporting documentation for external auditors. Ensures reserves are appropriate and coordinates inter-departmental reviews to help reduce inventory write-offs.
  • Assist in the company-wide process to update standard costs annually and also review/update standard costs throughout the year as needed. Calculate annual standard overhead rates.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to produce COGS and inventory budgets and/or reforecasts.
  • Ensure assembly & finished good bill of materials and routings are accurate for standard costing.
  • Track, report and calculate monthly surgical instrument fixed asset transactions, including the preparation of the fixed asset roll forward, and depreciation schedules.
  • Calculate inventory turns for recognition of capitalized variances.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX procedures and assist with external auditors requests during quarterly reviews and annual audits, including preparation of schedules and gathering supporting documentation.
  • Perform ad hoc projects and analyses as needed.

  • Experience with 3 Statement Financial Modeling.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and reconciliation skills.
  • Experience or ability to interact with leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; Builds and maintains strong working relationships with peers.
  • Ability to work independently; ensure responsive and timely follow-up; meet deadlines and demonstrates a sense of urgency; ability to prioritize; and strong organizations skills.
  • Solid knowledge of corporate finance concepts.
  • Highly organized with a capacity to manage large amounts of data, multiple priorities, and light deadlines with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to distill large amounts of complex information into a concise message.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Excel and mastery of other PC applications including Outlook, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word required.
  • ERP systems and data mining experience a plus.
  • Experience with PowerBI a plus.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree (preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Economics).
  • 1-3 years of experience in financial management, business planning and analysis, and/or public accounting.
  • Moderate experience in financial modeling

Salary Range

Alphatec Spine, Inc. complies with state and federal wage and hour laws and compensation depends upon candidates qualifications, education, skill set, years of experience, and internal equity. $75,000 to $90,000 Full-Time Annual Salary Range
