Responsibilities - Take ownership of the internally developed Mission Design Toolset (MDT)
- Create 6DOF attitude mission timelines from 3DOF trajectories, payload requirements, and other constraints
- Run, modify, create scripts and source code to assess vehicle change impacts among various subsystems for IM's current and future lunar missions
- Interface with all subsystems to improve processes, gather inputs, and provide output
- Present results to control boards, participate in high level design and analysis discussions
A candidate for this position will be encouraged to take on as much responsibility as practical and will be expected to play a role in the full analysis process, including conceptualization, requirements & procedures, code development, testing, documentation and presentation of results, and on-console mission operations support. This role is key for mission success. Required Education/Experience/Skills - B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline and minimum of 3 years of experience in root cause analysis or related discipline; or M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Proficiency with Python, Linux, 6DOF simulation, trajectory design, linear algebra, quaternion math, frame transformations
- Familiarity with commonly used space and commercial specifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
Desired Education/Experience/Skills - Solid experience with C/C++, Trick, Bash, VSCode, Git, GitLab, SpiceyPy, Matplotlib, Numpy, Confluence, Jira, Agile, Kalman Filters, Monte Carlo, nonlinear optimization, MPI
