About Sankofa Montessori

Sankofa Montessori is the only State Charter School Commission-approved tuition-free K-6 Public Montessori Charter school in Georgia. We were approved in July of 2022 and will open our doors in the Fall of 2023 to welcome 168 Kindergarten, 1st,and 2nd graders. Our vision is to awaken the inherent greatness in each child. We achieve our vision by providing a culturally responsive, child- and family-centered Montessori education so we can develop in all of our students the knowledge, skill, and agency to have a life of purpose.

Start Date: July 24, 2023

Duties:

  • Organize and maintain an efficient and effective office that handles a variety of tasks for the administration, faculty, students, and parents of the school
  • Perform secretarial and clerical tasks of a varied nature. Many tasks will require a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations of the school and school system and the frequent exercise of independent judgment within the scope of the authority granted by the administrative team
  • Act as a receptionist, greeting visitors, answering telephone calls in a pleasant and efficient manner, and communicating effectively in routine, sensitive, and confidential matters
  • Maintain efficient and well-organized electronic and paper data collection and filing systems, including confidential student and personnel files
  • Assist the Executive Director or designee in the preparation of reports and documents by creating graphics and displays, using word processing and data management, creating an attractive presentation, copying, collating, and distributing final products
  • Create forms, and compile and organize data and information necessary for the efficient operation of the office, the completion of the required district and State data collections, and the completion of the Executive Director or designees responsibilities
  • Complete all required monthly and year-end reports in a timely fashion
  • Order and maintain office supplies
  • Create and maintain a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and efficient office environment
  • Assist the Executive Director or designee and staff in handling interruptions and emergencies, calling for assistance when needed.
  • Work cooperatively with staff in other offices with the completion of large or time-sensitive projects or emergencies
  • Attend required staff meetings and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees
  • Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, accepting responsibility, and an effective work ethic
  • Protect the confidentiality of records and information about students and staff, and use discretion when sharing any such information within legal confines.
  • Adhere to GaDOE rules and regulations, Sankofa Montessoris Board of Education policies and regulations, school regulations and procedures, and contractual obligations.
  • Assist the school nurse with dispensing medication and contacting parents of sick children when needed
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

For this position, were looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:

  • Preferred experience as front office staff
  • Foundational Understanding of Excel
  • Willing to serve all children, regardless of background or needs, in an inclusive and supportive setting
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Positive, upbeat attitude
  • Work collaboratively with a growth mindset
  • Give and receive feedback in a spirit of craftsmanship
  • Strong learning orientation and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Can complete physical demands of the role (including standing and walking for extended periods of time and lifting heavy objects up to 40 Ibs)
  • Unwavering commitment to Sankofa Montessoris mission and willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of Sankofa Montessori students, families, and staff
  • Successful background check results required

Compensation

  • Sankofa Montessoris compensation philosophy is to pay competitively for the PK-12 charter market to ensure equity across our institution. The starting salary for this role is $35,000-$40,000 annually, based on years of experience and degree held. Sankofa Montessori is committed to internal pay equity throughout our organization. Because of this, we do not negotiate salary offers outside our salary bands.
  • Paid sick leave
  • Deferred pay model distributes salary throughout the year (including breaks and vacations)
