Job Overview

Must have an existing book of business (customer book). We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Freight Agent to join our team. As a Freight Agent, you will be responsible for sourcing new customers, managing customer relationships, and coordinating the transportation of the customers freight. This is a dynamic role that requires strong sales skills, excellent customer service, and knowledge of logistics and transportation planning.

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing customers

- Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing carriers

- Negotiate contracts and rates with customers and carriers

- Coordinate the transportation of freight, ensuring timely delivery

- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing any issues or concerns

- Utilize software systems to track shipments and manage customer accounts

- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction

- Stay updated on industry trends and regulations to provide accurate information to customers

- Identify opportunities for sales growth and implement strategies to achieve targets

Requirements

- Proven experience in sales or customer relationship management within the freight or logistics industry

- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable contracts and rates

- Proficient in using software systems for tracking shipments and managing customer accounts

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with customers and internal teams

- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

- Knowledge of transportation planning and logistics processes

Commission starts at 50% with potential to go up to 70%.
