  • Summary

    Provides surgical care to patients within the operating room under the supervision of perioperative nurses and/or surgeons. Utilizes AORN standards, recommended practices, and guidelines' as a reference to ensure quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care.

    Education

    Graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program.

    Certification, Registration & Licensure

    Certification required to obtain: Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire. Medical Technician - NH Board of Registration of Medical Technicians

    Experience

    A minimum of 1 year experience as a surgical technologist.

    Responsibilities

  • Plans for surgical procedures by assembling instrumentation, equipment, and necessary supplies.

  • Maintains the integrity of the sterile field by utilizing knowledge of aseptic technique.

  • Assists surgeon and physician assist (P.A.) with activities at the sterile field.

  • Participates and engages in center activities.

  • Functions as a leader for surgical team.

  • Performs sterilization of equipment.

  • Assists with maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment.

  • Pro actively plans and participates in requirements for surgical case.

  • Helps to contain supply costs.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to bloodborne pathogens, bodily fluids. The employee is frequently exposed to airborne pathogens, moving mechanical parts, nonweather related heat or cold, radiation, slippery surfaces, toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne contaminants, electrical hazards - shock, and vibration.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
