Job Overview:

As a Grower Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing financial transactions and records related to our crop production operations. You will work closely with growers, farm managers, and the finance team to ensure accurate accounting, reporting, and compliance with industry regulations. This role requires strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and a passion for agriculture.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and organized financial records for all grower-related transactions, including expenses, revenue, and payments.
2. Grower Payments: Calculate and process payments to growers based on crop yields, quality, and pricing agreements. Ensure timely and accurate disbursements.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts for crop production activities. Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
4. Cost Analysis: Analyze and report on production costs, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
5. Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, tax requirements, and contractual obligations with growers. Keep abreast of changes in agricultural accounting standards.
6. Financial Reporting: Prepare regular financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to support decision-making processes.
7. Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including farm managers, procurement, and finance, to gather data, share insights, and resolve issues.
8. Auditing: Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and data analysis as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the agriculture or farming industry.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of agricultural operations and practices is a plus.
