Opportunity Description

We are seeking a solution-oriented HR Manager or Generalist to support Scaleworks and our portfolio of companies. This is a high-visibility standalone role that is a part of the Scaleworks team. The successful candidate will be a team player who also enjoys working autonomously in a fast-paced environment and can manage conflicting priorities and multiple tasks in a timely manner. Responsiveness and a strong sense of ownership are important characteristics that help ensure the HR operations run smoothly and effectively.

Duties will include maintaining personnel records, managing HR documents, and helping companies resolve any escalated employee-related issues. You will be the go-to person for escalated HR-related queries from Scaleworks employees and our portfolio companies. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all employment-related government standards, assisting in developing policies, procedures, handbooks, and internal audit processes to ensure adherence across multi-state and international offices.

Own company HR policies, procedures, handbooks, and internal audit processes, ensuring adherence across multi-state and international offices


Own HRIS, ensuring all employee records are up-to-date and confidential

  • Conduct employee background checks and administer employee offer letters
  • Onboarding new hires, including fund-level orientation
  • Complete Forms I-9, verify I-9 documentation, and maintain I-9 files.
  • Process personnel status changes
  • Ensure the smooth transfer of employees to Scaleworks when we acquire new companies.
  • Offboarding employees to ensure a smooth transition
  • Own and maintain company Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policy and standards


Ensure compliance with all employment-related government and state standards and laws

  • Keep up to date with relevant changes
  • Ensure annual training compliance
  • Manage Workers Compensation


Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, as required

  • Provide a framework for hiring managers to conduct effective performance improvement plans (PIPs)
  • Prepare documentation to lead unemployment and EEOC hearings
  • Conduct investigations, provide recommendations and solutions


Administer health, welfare, and 401(k) benefits plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations, ensuring compliance with ERISA and other government regulations

  • Lead open enrollment process
  • Partner with Payroll to ensure benefits are properly processed and reconcile benefits statements and vendor contributions
  • Manage requests for FMLA/ADA and other medical leave including short-term and long-term disability benefits


Produce ad hoc reports for senior leadership, including employee information for reporting requirements


Requirements

  • A minimum of 4-8 years of Human Resources experience
  • Knowledge of a broad range of human resource strategies and practices, including performance management, multi-state labor laws, hiring and employee relations; able to apply these strategies and practices in compliance with employment regulations
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Experience with Human Resources Information System (HRIS) (ADP Workforce Now preferred)
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (Workable preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient with G-Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelor's degree, ideally in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • HR certification and/or, as is knowledge of Canadian HR are a plus, but not required
