Hardware Configuration Manager

Summary

  • The United States Army (USA), 7th Signal Command requires a Hardware Configuration Manager with a minimum of three (3) years' experience working in the areas and performing the types of actions listed in the following "Essential Functions" and "Competencies" discussions.
  • The customer is seeking a Hardware Configuration Manager to maintain a current inventory of all US government owned technological assets involved in RNEC-NCR operations as a single point of reference for all stakeholders.
  • The Hardware Configuration Manager ensures all government owned hardware and associated software is accounted for (i.e., logged and tracked) in the same registry/log for ease of reference and provides regulars reports to stakeholders to ensure they are aware of the log's contents.
  • The Hardware Configuration Manager also ensures regular updates are accomplished for the log to capture any changes to assets and document references to relevant portions of any future plans driving changes to these assets.

Clearance Level:

  • Must possess a Secret security clearance. Please DO Not apply unless you don't currently possess an active Secret, or better, security clearance.

Qualification:

  • A minimum of three (3) years' relevant experience is required for this position (See, Essential Functions" and "Competencies" sections)
  • Must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the types of communications networks and systems employed by the customer.
  • Customer prefers candidates with a Bachelor of Science (BS)
  • Customer prefers candidates with excellent communication skills (oral and written) to interact with the government customer and to accommodate possible interactions with senior government officials.

Essential Functions

  • Supports the implementation of a communications plan to a diverse cross-section audience.
  • Supports the Government in the development of electronic materials and communications tactics for Land Mobile Radio.
  • Writes and edits communications materials based on Information Technology (IT) concepts and terminology.
  • Translates technical IT information into layman's terms.
  • Performs in-depth Quality Control (QC) editorial checks.
  • Tracks and reports to Government the results of internal communications activities.
  • Provides input to weekly Technical Review Board (TRB), and Change Control Board (CCB) meetings, Backup Storage.
  • Supports the Government's existing backup systems and off-site storage sites.
  • Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
  • Provides technical support for backup systems and components, including on-call after hours support 7 days a week.

Work Environment

  • This job operates in a professional office environment within the continental US with occasional travel to offices within the National Capital Region and Georgia. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
  • Frequently moves standard office equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work indoor conditions 90% of the time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, between the core hours of 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Evening and weekend hours required, as required by business need.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected
