We are looking for a collaborative Hardware Project Engineer to be part of an agile team. This role will report to the Director of Hardware Engineering and be responsible for delivering end-to-end products and features and seeing them through from conception to delivery.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating technical hardware engineering projects and initiatives including 3rd party development
  • Ensure engineering projects are completed within budget and on-schedule
  • Conduct regular weekly meetings to ensure clarification and validation of product requirements and standards
  • Multi-Task up to 3 major projects at one-time during high-demand development periods.
  • Validate hardware manufacturing and quality test procedures are implemented to ensure that our products meet all product requirements
  • Collaborate with 3rd party developers/manufacturers, test engineering and quality engineering/manufacturing to ensure a robust and resilient product
  • Host review meetings on hardware quality procedures including QMS, ECRs/ECNs, mechanical and electrical inspection reports, etc.
  • Audit hardware suppliers quality processes and their adherence to their processes
  • Collaborate with design engineers to audit hardware suppliers designs and design changes to ensure continued adherence to ButterflyMX product requirements
  • Work with others to identify root cause of product failures, and troubleshoot any hardware or software product failures including both mechanical and electrical
  • Follow up with suppliers and internally to ensure corrective actions are taken on any root cause failures identified
  • Ensure all ButterflyMX products obtain and retain any required regulatory approvals (UL, FCC, CSA, CE Mark)
  • Drive cost reduction activities with 3rd party developers & manufacturers with parts source qualification, yield enhancement, workmanship improvements, test time reduction, etc.
  • Track and collaborate with design engineers to validate all mechanical, electrical and software design changes due to parts obsolescence
  • Review all design, DVT and ATP test specifications to ensure adequate product test coverage
  • Comfortable coordinating with other departments including 3rd party developers to proactively develop, test and troubleshoot products
  • Flexibility to attend and lead multiple early morning meetings with other regions of the US and global partners
  • Up to 20% domestic travel may be required

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or 2 to 5 yrs of total relevant experience with at least 2 years as a project engineer or related role
  • Fluency in engineering product development with strong analytical skills
  • Leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong fundamental understanding of electronics and mechanical manufacturing knowledge, hardware inspection and troubleshooting, including electronics, workmanship, mechanical metal and plastic enclosures, fit-check analysis, plastic mold finishing and aesthetics, etc.
  • Ability to use specialized software for collaboration and time management, including spreadsheets
  • Ability to debug electrical and mechanical development and production issues
  • Successfully manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks
  • Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative product development environments
