Overview: Our doughnut company is seeking a skilled and experienced Head Pastry Chef to oversee our pastry department. This culinary-educated team member will train under French-trained Executive Pastry Chef, Christine. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and executing the production of high-quality doughnuts that meet our company's standards for taste, texture, and presentation. As the head pastry chef, you will be responsible for managing the pastry team, developing new menu items, and ensuring all production runs smoothly. This position will also support innovation and creative collaboration to contribute to long-term product development.


Main Duties & Responsibilities:


    • Lead the pastry team to produce high-quality doughnuts according to company standards and recipes
    • Develop and test new doughnut flavors and recipes for the Quarterly Menu Change
    • Create and manage a production schedule to ensure that all orders are completed on time
    • In coordination with the Bakery Operations Manager, oversee the ordering and management of inventory to maintain sufficient supplies
    • Train and mentor pastry team members on proper techniques and procedures
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry department
    • Ensure compliance with all food safety and health regulations
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that all orders are fulfilled accurately and on time
    • Participate in menu planning and development for seasonal and promotional items
    • Work with Executive Pastry Chef on product development and testing.
    • As a member of an evolving kitchen environment, you will be expected and encouraged to offer any suggestions of improvement.
    • Other tasks as needs arise.

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: 5 days per week. Monday-Sunday + Holidays. Actual schedule & days to be determined together with Operational Needs. Maximum of 40 hours per week, with exception to special events where Overtime may be needed.

Requirements

  • Have a passion for pastry!
  • Must have a Culinary or Pastry Arts Degree from an established culinary school or equivalent years of experience as a Pastry Chef.
  • Must be 18 years or older and able to work in the US.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a pastry or bakery environment
  • In-depth knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and equipment
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Experience with inventory management and ordering
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Knowledge of food safety and health regulations
  • Must be able to lift, handle, move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position during an 8-10-hour shift.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays and special occasions (according to business demand).
