About the Role
As the saying goes, Content is King. And at WebMechanix, were looking to appoint some Royalty to the Head of Content & Community position.

Youll lead the strategy around distributed content, and activating a growing community of marketers.

The primary task at hand?

Growing a premium newsletter, from a few thousand to over 100,000 subscribers within a year.

Alongside that, you will be tasked with growing our organic social following to 50,000 or more.

While the goals are set, theres plenty of flexibility to how you get there.

Were looking for someone interested in building the program, not following orders.

Youre Bob Ross, and were a blank canvas. Were looking for you to show us how to draw the mountain tops.

But unlike Bob, you dont have to be alone.

You'll lead and grow a skilled team of content creators, community managers, and social media specialists, setting new standards for content and community engagement.

You'll report directly to a VP of Marketing who understands the challenge ahead of you - and who is committed to removing roadblocks in front of you so you can thrive in the role.

You have a track record of success with high-growth niche newsletters and a deep understanding of various content formats, platforms, and distribution channels.

You excel at identifying target audiences, crafting compelling content that resonates with them, and fostering a sense of community among followers.

You're confident, competitive, and eager to exceed ambitious growth targets.

You're passionate about content creation, community building, and leveraging the latest trends and best practices to stay ahead of the curve.

What you'll do

80% creating and growing a premium newsletter and organic social following

  • Conduct market research into target audiences and industry trends
  • Develop and implement content strategies to achieve growth targets
  • Create compelling content that resonates with target audiences
  • Monitor and optimize content performance across various channels
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and competitor activities
  • Foster a sense of community and engagement among followers

20% of your time will go toward managing people & processes

  • Mentor and manage a team of content creators, community managers, and social media specialists
  • Collaborate with other departments to align content and community strategies
  • Manage and optimize content creation and community engagement processes
  • Scale the team to handle increased demand and growth
  • Develop and maintain relationships with influencers, content creators, and brand partners

Requirements

  • Must have experience with high-growth niche newsletters
  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging content and build online communities that drive growth
  • Experience across various content formats, platforms, and distribution channels
  • Strong knowledge of social media algorithms and best practices
  • Proven success in achieving ambitious growth targets
  • Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills
  • Experience with content management systems and analytics tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and relevant design tools
  • Experience with managing and growing teams
  • Ability to create and maintain relationships with influencers, content creators, and brand partners
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments


NOTE: This position is flexible and we will consider contractors (1099) or full-time employees (W2). The type of relationship may change the details of the position, as well as the benefits and compensation package.

The estimated salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000.
