Head of Data Science



Based in New York or San Francisco



Base: $200,000 - $250,000

Our Client is a data science software firm that develops analytics tools to make data accessible and actionable for the media and entertainment industry. Currently focused on film and TV, we work with many major movie studios and TV networks to help them forecast, market and distribute their content more effectively. About the Team:



The Data Science team connects their data to the decisions made by clients. The team is extremely collaborative and cross functional and has embedded team members within their data engineering teams, front end engineering team, data quality team, and media analyst team. The team's work spans the whole spectrum between internal strategic analyses and external facing production code. As Head of Data Science, you will be a leader in the entire data product development life cycle: Data Acquisition, Research, Model Building, Productization, and Selling/Onboarding Customers.





Responsibilities:




  • Grow, manage, and lead our data science team with strong technical, analytical, and collaboration capabilities on research, development, and delivery

  • Partner with our Chief Data Scientist, CTO, CEO and rest of our leadership team on scaling our business and pursuing strategic data initiatives

  • Partner with our Data Engineering and Data Quality teams to develop our core data and ensure high accuracy and correctness

  • Partner with our Product, Design, and Front End Engineering teams to create compelling and impactful data stories for our clients





Requirements:




  • 6+ years of relevant data science and analytics experience plus 3+ hands-on data science management

  • Strong project management and collaboration skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent and cross functional projects

  • Strong ability to translate between data/technical problems and business impact

  • Strong proficiency across the whole technical spectrum of data science including description/inferential statistics, probability, and machine learning

  • Advanced familiarity with SQL and R or Python.

  • Previous working experience in the domain of marketing/advertising analytics with direct communication and collaboration with the end client is a huge plus

  • A masters or doctorate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
