SST designs and manufactures small-scale electrical components used around the world. These products include vacuum feedthroughs, hermetic connectors, and related accessories for vacuum systems. Our parts are found in many types of industrial, medical, and research facilities, and you will work with technologies used on equipment like energy storage systems, MRI machines, and particle accelerators. We have even sent parts to Mars! NASA's Mars Insight Mission uses components made right here in Watervliet, NY.

Position Summary: The Human Resource Generalist will assist with the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This role also provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists with recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Submits online investigation requests and new-employee background checks.
  • Onboards new employees, conducts orientation sessions, and employee engagement sessions.
  • Helps the human resource department with various HR processes, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry.
  • Processes required documents through payroll and coordinates any other payroll-related tasks weekly with Corporate Payroll Specialist.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Implements employee recognition programs; plans and coordinates company picnics, parties and other-related events.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of employee training programs.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training and anti-harassment training.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years related experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
