Performs tests and procedures in assigned sections, including those which require exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimum supervision. Independently performs qualitative and quantitative tests, following established guidelines and predetermined criteria. Identifies problems that may adversely affect test performance and/or results and uses knowledge, critical thinking skills, and judgment to troubleshoot and resolve them. Hematology/UA/Coag testing utilizes Sysmex technology for hematology, IrisCell in urinalysis and Stago instruments for coagulation. The Chemistry department has new Siemens Atellica instrumentation connected with a mag line. Microbiology technology includes: Bactec FX for blood cultures, the Vitek 2 for ID/Sensitivity, the Verigene for the Enteric Pathogen Panel, and the Cepheid for MRSA, C.diff, CT/NG , CRE, Fle/RSV, and MTB-RIF.
