ID&C Instrumentation Engineer

(Multiple Positions Available:

An exciting career opportunity exists for entry-level Instrumentation and Data System Engineers with primary responsibility for upgrading and maintaining sensors and data acquisition systems for measuring various aspects of aerospace systems’ performance while undergoing ground testing at simulated flight conditions. Typical measurements include force, strain, pressure, temperature, vibration, acceleration. acoustics, etc. Instrumentation and Data Systems Engineers will employ the concepts of electronics; sensor selection and calibration; signal conditioning; analog-to-digital conversion; analog and digital signal processing; and data acquisition, storage and processing to design, implement, operate and/or maintain the systems required to make the highly complex and accurate measurements required to characterize test article performance while undergoing ground test and evaluation.

nLogic is a teaming subcontractor to the National Aerospace Solutions, LLC team contracted by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee.  AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground and flight test.  Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

Candidate will perform work, generally within Instrumentation and Data Acquisition System Engineering, which involves the preparation, interpretation or review of calculations, specifications, plans, investigations, surveys, structures, systems or equipment with relatively few complex features. Candidate will evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Work tasks performed under the general guidance of more senior engineering staff include: Interface with internal and/or external customers to ensure understanding of system and/or test requirements. Development of system and subsystem requirements. Instrumentation and Data System design, development, maintenance, and/or test operations support. System and/or test configuration design, including conceptual and detailed sketches and layouts. Preparation of specifications and design calculations. Preparing designs, drawings and data under the supervision of a more experienced engineer. Preparation of engineering studies and reports. Preparation of material quantity estimates for test and/or design projects. Uses engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools. System troubleshooting and return-to-service. System Verification and Validation Test Development/Execution. Draft letters for replies to vendor correspondence. Monitor schedule for own work. Review design documents of equipment manufacturers or subcontractors of a low to moderate degree of complexity, and prepare comments and recommendations. It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
