OVERVIEW:

We are looking to hire a skilled IT Desktop Support Engineer to join an established team that supports one of our major oil and gas customers. The team provides L1 and L2 IT support for around 800 users at the Cenovus Toledo Refinery, and is responsible for all desktop support, mobility, AV/VC, and application remediation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnose and resolve IT incidents. Some examples include:
    • Printer related issues
    • Connectivity
    • Software related issues
    • Operating system
  • Installation of peripheral components
  • AV/VC configuration and problem resolution
  • Installation of software packages and minor remediation
  • Escalation to appropriate party where appropriate
    • Ownership of issue

Requirements

An effective Desktop Support Specialist must have exceptional communication skills. The ability to effectively communicate with customers in person and over the phone is paramount. The specialist should have empathy, patience, and the ability to understand and resolve the customers problem.

Customer service is a key component of success. As is critical thinking and strong problem-solving abilities.

Given that this jobsite is a refinery, a strong appreciation of Health and Safety is a must.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • 1-5+ years of IT Desktop Support experience
  • BSc in Computer Science or relevant field
  • Strong communications skills
  • Highly customer focused
  • Highly motivated, self-reliant, problem solver
  • Enthusiastic with a questioning and challenging attitude
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to make rational decisions under pressure
  • Proven ability to work within a team

BENEFICIAL BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Hardware/software roll outs
  • Executive level IT support
  • Experience of a production site / refinery

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

Location: Toledo, OH

Hours: 40 hours per week. ONSITE.

Start Date: 24th July, 2023

Engagement: W2

Salary: $50k-$63K depending on experience
