Industrial Electrician



 



Position Summary:  Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical failures in the manufacturing process

Principal Accountabilities and Deliverables




  • Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures in a fast-paced work environment

  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components using equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of the breakdown and correct the problem

  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair and to ensure compliance with codes, safety regulations and quality production

  • Understand 480-volt three phase power systems, motor controls, drives and low voltage controls

  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC (preferable control logix) including layout and trouble shooting

  • Participate in action planning process

  • Track/record time and all repair parts using work orders and maintenance management system

  • Install equipment, machines, wiring or programs to meet specifications

  • Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts or equipment

  • Follows basic blueprints, specifications or verbal instructions and plans the intended location of wiring and equipment

  • Measure, cut, assemble and install electrical wiring, stripping, splicing and soldering as necessary

  • Attaches cables and wiring to the incoming electrical service and to various fixtures and machines that use electricity

  • Perform basic adjustments and replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry and electronics c components

  • Other duties assigned by supervisor



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



 



Education/Experience and Skills




  • 5 to 10 years of verifiable Industrial Electrician experience

  • Good knowledge of lumber products a plus

  • Ability to model the Rex Lumber values and to provide innovative solutions

  • Ability to deliver high quality, detailed error free work on a consistent basis

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English to the extent required to receive and communicate information as necessary to the position

  •  Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to determine causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it

  • Ability to work well as part of a team

  • Ability to complete production tallies, downtime tallies and daily reports as required

  • Dexterity

  • Troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively to all levels within the organization



Abilities




  •  Must be able to lift, carry push or pull 50 plus pounds during your shift

  • Must be able to stoop kneel or crouch during the workday

  • Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday

  • Must be able to bend, stretch, push, pull and twist into various positions during the entire shift



Work Environment




  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts and vibrations.  Work is performed outdoors, and employee is exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions at the mill.  The noise level in the work environment can be loud
