Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology Director, this position is responsible for the management of the virtual server and network infrastructure, oversight of all agency wide databases, implementation of technology projects, assisting in training agency wide staff and collaborating with other IT department staff.

Scope of Supervision: Information Technology Support Technician

Duties and Responsibilities ( Not all inclusive):

  • Address integration needs between existing business systems
  • Work closely with the Director of Information Technology to participate in planning and implementing upgrades and new product selection.
  • Lead or participate in pilot testing large system upgrades or migrations. Coordinate with systems vendors and end user test teams for developing and carrying out test plans for large business systems.
  • Liaison with agency-approved vendors regarding critical issues and assist with creating and communicating resolutions.
  • Prepare and catalog necessary standard Information Technology documentation on systems integrations.
  • Prepare and maintain basic user guide information for new systems integrations.
  • Assist IT staff in defining, configuring and coordinating appropriate security at the network, database and applications levels. Assist with monitor compliance with external standards and best business practices for data confidentiality (HIPAA, MN Data Practices and similar requirements.)
  • Participate with other Information Technology staff in providing systems integration and support relation to other Community Action systems and databases.
  • Hardware maintenance: Assess and perform maintenance of IT infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain documentation of various systems, processes and procedures
  • Provide full or partial coverage of other IT positions in the absence of other staff, including, but not limited to database administration and helpdesk support.
  • Maintain and support agency wide telephone systems and data lines through current vendors.

Other Duties:

  • Travel to multiple agency sites as needed.
  • Ability to work a flexible and dynamic schedule which may occasionally include after hours, weekends and holidays.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in CS/MIS or a related field; Alternatively, demonstrated relevant IT experience may substitute for a degree
  • +5 years of relevant system/networking administration experience
  • Prior experience with LAN/WLAN/WAN Networking
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Prior experience with automation or scripting
  • Experience with datacenter hardware and infrastructure, developing and implementing technology projects and researching and troubleshooting technology issues.
  • Preferred experience with VMWare, Juniper networking and Aruba access points

Abilities and Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills for integration solutions planning. Strong interaction and team leadership skills for investigating user requirements for systems and integrations. Good communication skills to work with staff in all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to perform functions of the position with minimal supervision and demonstrate appropriate time and priority management skills.
  • Ability to take a leadership role on the design, development and support of the technical systems of the agency.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional, collaborative relationships with agency wide staff, including the ability to work cross culturally
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and train non-technical staff
  • Ability to work with a flexible schedule including occasional weekend and evening hours and work extended hours when required for specific projects and/or during urgent problem situations

Drivers License: Valid drivers license and reliable personal transportation required.

Physical Requirements: Candidates must be local to the Twin Cities, or willing to relocate to the area if the position is offered and accepted. Ability to lift to 40 pounds for handling computer equipment installations. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to function in a typical office, an IT server room environment, in a moderate noise environment and also in a cooled equipment area (server room).

Environmental Requirements: This job is usually in an office environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes include non-standard workplaces. The position works a standard work week, but additionally will infrequently work evenings, weekends, and additional hours to accommodate activities such as system upgrades and integrations. This position requires personal access to a vehicle to be used for business related matters, and to have a current operators license and appropriate auto insurance as required by the state of Minnesota. This position is eligible for remote work up to 20% of the time.

Mental Requirements: This position requires the ability to organize workload, and handle and prioritize multiple tasks. Must be able to function individually as well as a member of a team. Must be able to work and communicate with various skill levels in users. Must be able to determine unusual problems and define solutions.

Benefits

Department: Information Technology

Starting Salary Range: $64,278 - $83,567 Annually

Schedule: M-F, 40 Hours/Week

Remote Capability: This position has 20% remote capability.
