Inspector Public Works Location: US-CA-King City Email this job to a friend

Function: Provide a variety of professional, and technical, field inspection and office engineering work for government construction and private development projects, in support of the client agency Engineering/Public Works Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities General - Perform field inspections for a variety of minimal to moderately complex public work projects and private development projects including roads, drainage, grading, water and waste water pipelines and treatment facilities, tanks, parks and landscaping, bike paths, bridges, environmental mitigation, traffic signals, signage, and similar projects.
- Review construction material sampling for conformance to plans, specifications, and any/all special conditions.
- Practice compliance engineering to meet the standards of all applicable law codes, ordinances and city regulations.
- Maintain accurate records on project progress, work quality, labor and equipment used, work items not in conformance to plans, record drawings, and other project information.
- Prepare written correspondence and spreadsheets required in performance of the work.
- Explain agency standards to others such as contractors, citizens, and other agency representatives.
- Review routine construction project plans for specifications conformance.
- Propose minor design changes in the field to Project Manager when appropriate.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements Minimum Education, Licensure, or Certification Required - Associates degree from an accredited college or university with a major in urban planning or a closely related field is preferred.
Minimum Experience Required - 2 years of technical engineering experience.
- 1 year of public works inspection
Other Required Skills - Experience in Plan Checking and Plan Review, Traffic issues and Storm Water Management are a must.
- Possesses strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to interact with other staff effectively.
