**The Main Responsibilities**
Lumen is searching for a Software Engineer intern to join our development team supporting our suite of billing applications. This person will partner in an agile team environment to design, develop, code, test, and debug new software or enhancements to existing software. Develop solutions across many disciplines and be responsible for explaining solutions and procedures. Apply principles, theories, and concepts and use methodologies, tools, documentation processes, and test procedures to complete projects.
Day-to-day could include:
- Analysis, design, coding and testing for Kenan billing and voice usage processing systems
- Overview of systems and platforms
- Integration to daily / weekly meetings, JIRA platform and agile development methodology at Lumen
- Shadowing work of current team
- Working stories with team / manager oversight: design, develop and test
- Implementing stories with team / manager oversight
Additional daily activities / responsibilities:
- Meetings (stand up; staff; requirement sessions, etc.)
- Training (Team documentation review; 1:1 sessions with team/mgr; architecture overview, etc.)
- Development work (JIRA story development, testing and 2nd testing for others)
- Maintenance (production and test support with team/mgr and architect; documentation updates)
- Process improvement
**What We Look For in a Candidate**
**Education Requirements**
o Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior or master's level education status at the start of the internship, graduating August 2024 - June 2025.
o Major/Degree: In pursuit of degree in Information Technology, MIS, or similar STEM technical degree field.
**Proficiency and understanding of;**
o Programming/coding experience
o Familiarity working in SQL, PL/SQL Unix/Linux operating system experience
o DBMS experience, primarily Oracle and MS-SQL Server
o Mathematical / engineering focused thinker

o Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours per week during the 10-week program (June - August)

**Compensation**
Internship compensation ranges depends on each individuals level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role.
**Hourly Based Pay Range:**
Min: $25.00/hour
Max: $41.00/hour
