6+ month contract to hire. 100% remote working EST hours. The Tech Lead/Manager, Planning Apps, will split their responsibilities between planning and designing complex development projects, working with stakeholders to ensure we meet the needs of our business while staying in budget, mentoring, and managing the work of the onshore and offshore teams, and developing the roadmap for our future platform. This role will be aligned to our Planning track, which focuses on the end-end journey for planners, allocators and Buyer groups, as well as enhancing new features and capability on the respective enterprise platform and integration middleware. Position Description: Plans and drives digital development projects Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring to on shore and offshore team members. Design complex software applications, components and modules using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed software design standards, guidelines, patterns and methodology. Identifies and evaluates alternative design options and trade-offs. Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders and to handle functional and non-functional requirements. Develops road maps to communicate future development activity. Develop code, scripts, and designs per business requirements when needed. Conduct and lead design and code reviews. Assesses and analyses release components for input to release scheduling. Implements scalable and reliable automated tests and frameworks. Contribute to the development of the IT engineering digital strategy and the strategy for software development methods, tools, and techniques. Monitors and reports on the progress of development projects. Ensures projects are carried out in accordance with agreed architectures, standards, methods and tools and addresses security and privacy requirements. Oversee/coordinate supporting technical work required with other IT teams, including infrastructure (e.g., network, DevOps) and upstream and downstream system owners (warehouse management systems, order management systems, InfoSec, etc.) Partner with product owners to prioritize on business stories and to ensure technical execution risks & issues are captured and mitigated. Oversee the work of developers and QA team members to ensure that agile stories support the release plan defined by the product owner and are delivered with high quality. Accountable for the team's impact; guide and mentor the onsite/offshore team to achieve a high level of technical productivity and reliability. Participate in Agile rituals daily standups, iteration planning, story huddles, retrospectives, creation of burn up chart's inceptions, document technical work in technical stories using JIRA board, and estimate (using agile points/story sizing techniques) the work effort required to complete those stories. Required Skills: 5+ years leading an agile team of full stack engineers on design and solutioning in a multi-cloud hybrid ecosystem. 5+ years in supporting and managing projects in retail domain on at least two of merchandising, inventory management, planning or forecasting modules on a cloud-based Saas platform 5+ years Exposure to multiple integration orchestration patterns and middleware tools 10+ years delivering solutions to complex business problems, and omni-channel, collaborating with cross functional teams including infrastructure, Infosec, compliance, product owners and engineering vendors. Experience with Agile, Continuous Integration, TDD, Continuous Delivery, Pairing, Automated Testing Good knowledge of design patterns Experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or Oracle Cloud Experience building API's and Java-based micro-services with Spring Boot Retail / Ecommerce experience is a must Must be able to support on and offshore teams Bonus Skills: Experience in developing applications with Ruby on Rails is a nice to have 09 and/or Commerce Tools HUGE bonus
