JUNIOR ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY
A growing personal injury law firm is looking for a junior associate with 0-3 years of experience.
Location: Gresham.
Compensation: base salary with bonus opportunities.
Benefits: health insurance available, 401k retirement plan, and a gym membership stipend. The firm also pays for bar dues, malpractice insurance, and continuing legal education.
About the Firm
Vames, Wang & Sosa is a dedicated injury firm with offices in Gresham and Hillsboro. We work with people who have suffered catastrophic injuries or wrongful death resulting from a vehicle collision, dangerous premises, defective products, or medical malpractice. We believe in teamwork and have a positive firm culture.
About the Position
Our junior associate will be responsible for managing their own cases under the guidance and mentorship of the partners. Their cases during the first year would likely include soft tissue injuries and low-level property damage. They will be expected to meet with clients, draft correspondence / pleadings, conduct discovery, take depositions, and participate in arbitrations.
They may also be asked to second-chair a trial with one of the partners within the first year or two. They would be expected to handle the case from intake through arbitration / trial.
We hope the junior associate will remain with our firm long-term. Over time, they will be expected to bring in their own clients by attending networking events, building relationships with potential referral partners, and being visible in the community. We encourage them to be active in organizations like the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association and the Multnomah County Bar
Association.
Qualities
Our ideal junior associate is someone with the following traits:
- High Social Skills: they will be dealing with clients who are experiencing physical as well as emotional distress. They will also be attending networking and other community events. Being comfortable interacting with people is a must.
- Detail-Oriented: they will have to review police reports, medical records, and other documentary evidence while also talking with clients to learn how their injuries have impacted their lives. Attention to detail, both written and verbal, is a necessity.
- Self-Starter: they will have to be self-motivated. Theyll be responsible for moving their own cases forward and eventually bringing in their own clients. The compensation structure is predicated on someone who is motivated to work their cases and grow their own book of business.
- Language Skills: someone who can speak Spanish is preferred.
This junior associate position is a perfect fit for a self-motivated, people person who wants to help injured clients, stand up to insurance companies, and grow their own litigation practice.
