Integrated Security Technologies, Inc. (IST) designs, installs and services integrated electronic and physical security systems (access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, physical barriers, etc.) for government and commercial entities. Though based primarily in the mid-Atlantic region, our team members dispatch to locations throughout the nation and occasionally overseas. IST is searching for a Junior Electronic Security Installation Technician to support clients in Roanoke, Virginia and surrounding areas.

The Junior Electronic Security Installation Technician will assist with security system installations, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and demolition tasks. Security systems include access control systems, burglar alarm systems, CCTV and other electronic and physical security systems. will assist with security system installations, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and demolition tasks. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read and understand drawings and equipment schematics.
  • Install Alarm, Access Control, IP video systems.
  • Provide updates to project manager and customers.
  • Test, troubleshoot and preform necessary corrections to security system.
  • Pulling cable Be able to read drawings and port charts.
  • Be able to plan out and complete wire pulls.
  • Properly label cables and devices.
  • Cleanup / take direction Know the next steps in assisting senior techs.
  • Wire devices and know the difference between NO / NC Cat 5 & 6 connectors and punch downs.
  • Understand the purpose of each wire and color.
  • Wire proper resistance in a variety of devices.
  • Understand/know how to meter resistance and voltage.
  • Be proficient in mounting power supplies, panels and cans.
  • Understand fail safe and fail secure.
  • Fish walls and drill out for devices while keeping aesthetics in mind.
  • Properly code time and write notes.
  • Maintain good criminal record.
  • Come to work on-time and be reliable.
  • Accomplish tasks error free.
  • Using/be able to identify the correct material and hardware for the job.
  • Have the proper tools.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or state-recognized equivalent.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, work extended hours, and travel independently.
  • Valid state driver license with a clean driving record for the last three (3) years.

Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and retain a U.S. Government Security Clearance preferred.
  • DCJS Certification or ability to obtain is required.
  • Prior troubleshooting experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Project a bonus.
  • Willingness to travel on the East Coast, if needed.
