You need to have extensive knowledge and experience in diagnosing, treating, and preventing reproductive system disorders in women of all ages. Your daily tasks include conducting physical exams, analyzing medical histories, and performing diagnostic tests like Pap smear, pelvic ultrasounds, and biopsies. Other tasks you might perform include prescribing medications, recommending procedures like surgeries or fertility treatments, and counseling patients about contraceptive methods or sexual health practices. A gynecologist is responsible for managing pregnancy-related complications, including monitoring fetal health and managing high-risk pregnancies. Gynecologists also work alongside other medical professionals, such as obstetricians, urologists, endocrinologists, and oncologists to treat complex medical conditions.
