OPPORTUNITY

Kidango is seeking a Chief of Early Childhood Services (CECS) who will be a visionary and equity-oriented leader. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CECS will supervise the Vice Presidents of Early Learning, Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation, Head Start, the Directors of Early Intervention and Inclusion Service, Behavioral Health, and other staff as assigned by the CEO. The CECS will strive to create a comprehensive range of services that empowers every child, their families, and the staff who serve them.

Working collaboratively across all departments, the CECS will ensure seamless integration of hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, quality improvement, budget and fiscal management, support services, nutrition, and enrollment. The ultimate goal is to provide an exceptional experience for children, families, and staff while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. As a part of the executive team, the Chief of Early Childhood Services will embody Kidango's values and play a pivotal role in fostering a culture that promotes equity and prioritizes the well-being of children and families.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities of the Chief of Early Childhood Services include:

Equity Leadership

  • Honor and exemplify organizational values, including anti-bias and anti-racist principles.
  • Help create an organizational culture centered on equity, well-being, and relational trust.
  • Build staff leadership capacity and cultivate a culture of inspiring, supportive leadership.

People Leadership

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff within the Education Department.
  • Facilitate hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating of assigned staff by departmental staff.
  • Provide coaching, supervision, and reflective practices for direct reports.

Organizational and Strategic Leadership

  • Contribute to the organization's overall vision, mission, values, and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with the executive leadership team in visioning, planning, decision-making, and strategic plan implementation.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to oversee and achieve school/life readiness goals.
  • Lead and manage Kidango, working closely with the chief team.

Program Management and Quality Improvement

  • Lead and empower a diverse staff, including teachers, caregivers, directors, mental health clinicians, early interventionists, etc.
  • Design, select, implement, and evaluate evidence-based early childhood curricula and educational programs.
  • Support inclusive environments for all children, including those with special needs.
  • Implement a practical and effective data and evaluation system for continuous quality improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Ensure positive, culturally sensitive, and trauma-aware customer experiences for all families.
  • Build trusting relationships with families and offer support services, resources, and educational opportunities.
  • Create avenues for feedback, concerns, and engagement from staff and families.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Development and Communications in developing funding requests and proposals.
  • Provide thought leadership for the early childhood education (ECE) field to empower young children and foster overall human development.

Compliance and Financial Management

  • Ensure program compliance according to relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Oversee the writing of the annual Program Self-Assessment/Agency Plan of Action for state and federal authorities.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to develop program budgets.

Requirements

In order to fulfill these responsibilities, the preferred qualifications are:

  • A Masters Degree and require a Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of work experience in an executive position, including supervising others, and a minimum of 5 years of work experience teaching in an early childhood classroom.
  • Strong oral, written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Strong computer skills in programs such as Gmail, Slack, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to provide leadership, accept responsibility, work independently, and set own goals in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously and able to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must pass a health screening and TB test.
  • Must pass background fingerprint clearance.

Benefits

This position offers a competitive salary of $266,000, the potential for up to a 10% bonus, and robust benefits including medical, dental, and retirement. More details can be provided upon request.
