The Lab Test mechanical engineering team applies mechanical design practices to develop world class facilities for testing aircraft system integration. Our engineers are responsible for transforming testing requirements into representative lab fixtures in support of development, certification, and troubleshooting of integrated aircraft systems. Labs include testing of aircraft flight controls, landing gears, electronic control systems, environmental control system, sensors, lights, and interiors. Gulfstream's Lab Test department is the cornerstone of innovation where engineers can bring new technology from conceptual design to reality.

Engineers will be expected to utilize Catia extensively to create designs, work with our operations teams (welders, sheet-metal techs, machine shop, and materials/procurement), collaborate with testers and peers on the electrical and instrumentation design teams, and troubleshoot issues in the labs. There are opportunities to learn and work with instrumentation design as well as the electrical design teams for multi-disciplinary skills.

Required:

  • Mechanical or Aerospace Bachelors Degree

Preferred:

  • 3D Modeling (Catia preferred)
  • SmarTeam
  • Sheet-metal design
  • Machined part design (GD&T)
  • Welding practices
  • FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
  • Fluid Mechanics
  • Fixture Design
  • Structural Design
Position Purpose:
Performs engineering work related to the investigation and solution of basic problems associated with research, design, development, service and manufacture of Gulfstream aircraft.
Job Description
  1. Provides technical assistance to engineering staff and contributes by completing discrete engineering tasks on schedule (link removed)>
  2. Using company procedures, applies engineering knowledge to resolve routine issues (link removed)>
  3. Analyzes and evaluates results of project activities (link removed)>
  4. Prepares recommendations for changes and compiles necessary reports for various department supervision (link removed)>
  5. Recognizes discrepancies and/or problems with analysis/test results and works toward corrective action (link removed)>

  2. Continues learning and developing knowledge of application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in assigned field of expertise (link removed)>
  3. Perform other duties as assigned.
