Laboratory Technician I

Description/Comment: This position will be responsible for supporting an R&D team to develop new separation products, methods and techniques, execute experiments part of a research project, and summarize and report data. Duties & Responsibilities Performs testing of chromatographic sorbents , HPLC columns and / or SPE products under supervision; Executes sets of experiments designed by supervisor and/or project lead Performs experiments and testing according to existing protocols Documents, summarizes and reports experimental data Discusses next steps with supervisor Prepares solutions and mixtures of solvents with exact concentration Manages materials and workspace Monitors inventory for materials and reagents Maintains workspace clean and organized Disposes of waste following procedures in place Supports research activities as requested by supervisor Performs additional more complex work as requested Laboratory instrumentation experience desired Ensures all work is accurate and free of errors / defects Ability to pay attention to details Ability to use basic mathematical equations and formulas Experience in Microsoft Office and Database Management At least 1 year experience working in a chemical laboratory Must have knowledge of safety measures when working with hazardous chemicals Education: Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or related field preferred Physical Job Requirements - Ability to routinely lift and move 10-15 lbs.
- Ability to stand for 2-4 hours daily
- Ability to safely and accurately handle different volumes of chemicals, solvents, and hazardous waste.
- Conditions may require wearing personal protective equipment such as air-purifying respirators as well as safety goggles, gloves, and lab coats.
- Must be able to pass OSHA required physical evaluation and fit test.
- Substantial movements (motions) of wrists, hands, and / or fingers
- Extending hand (s) and arm (s) in any direction
