JOB SUMMARY
The CAD (computer-aided design) and PLM (product lifecycle management) Lead, under the leadership of the Manager, Design Engineering will support the process to provide business essential, cost effective, product design and lifecycle support. The CAD and PLM Lead will be responsible for 1) 2D and 3D CAD deliverables for customer projects both internal and external, 2) developing design guidelines and standards for different customers and products, 3) developing efficient part and workflow structures to help the business scale, 4) driving continuous improvement in ASGs use of the PLM and CAD tools, and 5) mentoring and training new associates on CAD and PLM use.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reliable, consistent, on-site attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance in order to meet the needs of the business; including attending and participating in meetings and presentations.
Take concepts and requirements from various stakeholders and develop CAD models based on requirements.
Set up CAD/PLM structures tailored to the products we design in order to facilitate efficient and accurate product development.
Provide support and coordinate with outside vendors to maintain our PLM system.
Modify and/or generate models with engineering support, model commercial components, and assist in part selection/specification.
Support generation of CAD produced materials for presentations and reviews.
Generate engineering drawings from 3D models, oral or written instructions, engineering notes, sketches or actual hardware.
Modify existing drawings as required.
Support part selection and specification.
work closely with design engineers and product development teams, operations and manufacturing teams, and quality and document control to create detailed drawings and specifications (link removed)>Prepare drawings using CAD software with GD&T
Collaborating with the design team to prepare design files and drawings for release.
Collaborate with operations, manufacturing, quality, and procurement teams to determine capabilities and requirements for dimensioning.
Present critical drawings to a review team and discuss GD&T strategy.
Implement adjustments to drawings according to feedback from various teams.
Ensure drawings comply with quality procedures and applicable standards/regulations.
Work in a fast-paced environment.
Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.
Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy.
Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design effort.
Maintain, upgrade, and expand the Windchill PDM and other CAD PDM/PLM systems in a young organization.
Develop, implement, and maintain CAD standards, templates, libraries, configurations, and workflows.
Participate in the creation of Part Families
Perform as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Engineering Design, Drafting, and modeling standards.
Mentor, prepare, and deliver training to associates.
Possess a full understanding and knowledge of Bills of Materials
Coordinate with external vendors to support, troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance CAD, PDM, and PLM systems.
Review and help improve the engineering data organization, templates, and data management processes.
Help document relevant engineering processes and write/update procedures, and standards with input from the appropriate stakeholders.
Support cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain users and stakeholders.
The CAD Designer/Drafter will perform other duties as assigned.
Resolves problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
Promotes the companys core values, culture and vision.
Responsibly receive, transmit, and handle consumer and customer data per applicable policies and procedures.
Review and follow data privacy practices, policies, and guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities. This position may occasionally lead, train and/or mentor apprentices and/or temporary associates or other project based personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree from an accredited college or university and/or a minimum of 10-year experience in an applicable roles or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to maintaining strict confidentially and handle sensitive information
Excellent Organization, Prioritization Skills and the ability to multitask
Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision with some latitude for independent judgement
Ability and desire to work with new and changing technologies and processes.
Strong ability to manage and complete projects simultaneously and under deadlines
Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team

High level of proficiency with PTC Creo 2D and 3D model generation
High level of proficiency with GD&T
High level of proficiency with model based definition (MBD)
Proficient in CAD / PDM integration between PTC Creo and Windchill
History of driving innovation through the combined use of CAD and PDM

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS*
Valid drivers license required.
Compliance: Carries out responsibilities in accordance with ASG policies, including the EPA, OSHA, MSDS, & Texas health and safety laws.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend written and oral English instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively discuss information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While the job is generally performed in an office environment, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals are present, and outside weather conditions.
