Working in the role ofLead Software Developer, you will be part of the global development team of Philips Hue, working on the worlds leading smart home lighting and security system. You will be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of Hue features on our bridge to offer the best personalized lighting experience making home lighting more enjoyable, personal, and inspiring. You guide and coach a team of developers with best practices in software design and development.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in modern C++ that is eager to build up knowledge in Rust development, or preferably has experience developing in Rust. We expect you to have a deep understanding of the concepts of object-oriented development, memory safe C++ and asynchronous programming to support coaching others in that area.

You have strong debugging and issue analysis skills. You have knowledge and preferably experience in IOT concepts such as REST / MQTT and (wireless networking) protocols. Experience with Hue or another home automation platform is an advantage. Experience with system architecture or advanced development is an advantage.

What youll do


Design, develop and test software features using Rust and C++ for a Linux based system.

Analyze and debug system issues.

Identify and execute improvements and support team in continuous improvement.

Coach and mentor team members on software design and development and help identify knowledge gaps to support team learning.

Join and encourage cross team design and architecture discussions to drive cross team learning.


Your qualifications


Bachelors degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or related discipline

Demonstrable experience designing complex software products using object-oriented concepts and asynchronous communication.

10 or more years of experience in C++ and preferably experience with Rust or ambition to learn Rust.

Strong communication skills and able to explain complex information to others in an effective manner.

Experience as a lead developer coaching developers for creating simple, robust, and high-quality maintainable software and eager and open to learn new things.

Experience with Linux as a development platform, but unafraid to try other environments and platforms.
