Ewing Irrigation & Landscape Supply, the largest family-owned supplier of landscape and irrigation products in the country, is seeking a Lead Mechanic for their Glendale, AZ location. The Lead Mechanic role will be responsible for collaborating with the maintenance team to oversee the maintenance and repairs of the company's fleet of vehicles and equipment, with a focus on ensuring effective and safe operations. As a member of the logistics and supply chain industry, the role will require a passionate and dedicated individual to work alongside other industry professionals to ensure customer satisfaction.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to lead, direct and oversee the maintenance, repairs and inspections of company fleet of vehicles, machinery and equipment.
  • Monitor and track the inventory of parts, materials and equipment required for repairs, ensure that they are available at all times, and perform data entry in the company's computer systems.
  • Ensure that all maintenance, repair and inspection work meets industry standards, safety protocols and is completed according to schedule.
  • Conduct tests and inspections on vehicles and equipment to diagnose issues and identify necessary repairs. Provide recommendations to the management team on the best courses of action.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance, inspection, and repair work performed on vehicles and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain an effective preventive maintenance program to ensure equipment and vehicles are well maintained and avoid unplanned downtime.
  • Assist in the development and execution of training programs for new mechanics and technicians to ensure they are trained on correct and safe procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Associates degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in diesel and gasoline engine repair, hydraulic and electrical system troubleshooting, welding and fabrication, and heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of both federal and state regulations governing vehicle safety compliance required.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to lead a team of mechanics effectively.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
