Position Description
The QA Coordinator lead manages processes and personnel to conduct quality assurance testing for software and process development for the Maricopa County Treasurer's Office (MCTO). In this role, the QA Coordinator lead develops effective and efficient methods, maintains documentation throughout the QA process, ensuring requirements traceability and communicates with development teams to provide a reliable, consistent, and positive end user experience. The QA Coordinator lead conducts rigorous testing throughout the development process, identifying potential issues and reporting them back to development teams. In some cases, the QA team lead is also responsible for developing and implementing fixes and improvements, working with their team and with others in the organization to deploy updates and resolve issues that arise during the QA process.
Recommend and evolve formal QA processes, ensuring that the team is using industry-accepted best practices.
Lead QA Teams and assess current testing needs and schedules to determine staffing needs to effectively conduct the testing. They also oversee team members' work to ensure that they adhere to specifications.
Develop and execute test cases, scripts, plans and procedures (manual and automated).
Supports compatibility testing, utilizes software to capture performance data, and evaluate individual aspects of the software or system including user interfaces and functional requirements.
Maintains documentation, processes, guidelines, and procedures that align with MCTO project management methodologies, SDLC and ensures that systems are adequately tested and that all use cases are accounted for.
Functions as a "gatekeeper" for the test environment(s).
Manage Testing Schedules - develop, enact, and manage testing schedules, ensuring that the QA team meets expectations and deadlines.
Coordinate bug fixes and software enhancements with development teams.
Act as key point of contact for all QA aspects of releases, providing QA services and coordinating QA resources internally and externally.
Lead and mentor QA team members, as well as manage outside contract testers.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to develop leadership QA reporting.
Skills Required
Skill in organizing and conducting quality assurance and UAT testing, scheduling, and reporting
Skill with both automated and manual testing using industry standard tools
Ability to organize, train and lead a team of testers
Ability to ensure all development tasks meet quality criteria through test planning, test execution, quality assurance and issue tracking.
Ability to set processes for test plan reviews and ensure that that test plans get reviewed by all stakeholders.
Ability to concurrently manage multiple priorities and transition quickly between projects/issues.
Knowledge of or familiarity with project management and agile software development life cycle methodologies.
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team by delivering to deadlines and communicating effectively.
Ability to self-prioritize work and work with minimal to moderate supervision in the performance of daily activities.
Ability to recognize and recommend process and efficiency enhancements
Ability to define quality metrics for applications.
Ability to prepare test cases for evaluation of completeness and fitness for use of developed solutions.
Ability to produce clear written documentation of system functionality, test scripts, test results and training material.
Skill in customer service and methods of professional interaction with a staff of disparate personalities and the ability to display a courteous and professional demeanor at all times.
Skill in verbal and written communication, including presentation skills and experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience Required
five (5) years' quality assurance and testing experience on large or mid-level software development projects, which includes three (3) years of IT industry experience preferably working as a QA or testing lead. An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or industry related experience or certification may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.
Education Required
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field
