Darkhive is making robotics accessible. We are a startup focused on the application of robotics to the public safety and defense community. Our approach in accessibility is built on three pillars of low-cost, ease-of-use, and open interface design to enable extensibility by third parties.

Darkhive is creating an autonomy software stack that will enable military and public safety users to intuitively interact with robotics platforms to understand their common environment and make decisions when it matters most. In addition to our core software suite, Darkhive is creating a palm-sized, autonomous drone optimized to demonstrate the capabilities of our software stack. The integrated software and hardware solution are key to realizing the full potential of the product in our target markets.

The Role:

You will be an essential member of our software engineering team, focusing on the deployment and management of drone technology. As a lead engineer, you will be entrusted with crafting a robust, self-healing, performant, and secure platform tailored specifically for the orchestration of both infrastructure and applications in cloud and edge drone environments. You will tackle intricate deployment challenges related to small aerial drones, including the creation, testing, and validation of algorithms for navigation, tracking, and stabilization across a decentralized network.

Your significant contributions will encompass designing, developing, enhancing, and refining microservices that are the bedrock of our drone platform. Expertise in containerization and Kubernetes is a must.

Teamwork is central to this position, necessitating a coordinated effort across various projects hinging on your design inputs and customer interactions. You will work hand-in-hand with diverse teams to develop scalable, reliable, and secure drone solutions that redefine the boundaries of what's possible. By being a part of our team, you will play a pivotal role in steering the trajectory of large-scale drone software deployment contributing to Darkhive and our customer's success.

Requirements

You bring:

  • Able to translate high-level desires into designs and tasking with an understanding of security in critical applications on the cloud and edge.
  • Ability to assimilate new technology quickly and help iterate on solutions.
  • Strong experience in microservices, deployment, and orchestration of diverse workloads and under restrictive environments
  • Ideally 8+ years of industry experience
  • US. Citizenship

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Previous software development integrating with uncrewed aerial systems (UAS).
  • Familiarity with edge orchestration platforms.
  • Familiarity with simulation platforms such as Gazebo, Airsim, ISAAC, etc.
  • Golang, JS, Java, and Python experience in some mix a plus. Particularly being able to work services while also present user interfaces.
  • An active security clearance (this is not a requirement for the position).

Process:

  • Phone Screen (30 minutes) - Get to know more about the company and tell us about your experience.
  • Takehome / Project Review at your own pace. No trick algorithm questions.
  • Hire / No Hire - Based on video conference review of solution with opportunity to ask questions and meet the team.

Benefits

  • Fully Remote
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401k
